The Daily Acca: Newcastle to treat the St James’ faithful to another home win

Rafa to mastermind another win

Bet 1: Back Newcastle @ 13/8 – KO 17:30 BST

The Magpies picked up the win that they needed to all but secure their safety at Leicester last Friday and they will be aiming to maximise their points return from their final four matches – three of which look very winnable.

Things are looking as bright as they realistically could be on Tyneside as it has been reported that there has been progress in Rafa Benitez’s contract talks, and they are still in with a chance of finishing in the top 11.

Southampton are also on the up having won three of their last four outings, and while they are still only five points clear of Cardiff in 18th, it is now very unlikely that they will be relegated.

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men have lost two of their last three away from St Mary’s though, and with Newcastle having won five of their last six at St James’, the 13/8 for a home win looks good.

No nice end to the season for Caen

Bet 2: Back Nice @ 3/4 – KO 19:00 BST

The hosts are finishing the campaign strongly after a fairly slow start, and they are now up to eighth – just three points behind Marseille in fifth.

Patrick Vieira’s side are unbeaten in four – two wins and two draws – while at home they haven’t lost any of their last 10 – seven of which were victories.

Caen on the other hand are staring relegation in the face as they sit rock bottom of Ligue One – five ponts adrift of the relegation play-off place.

They have lost six of their last seven in all competitions, and away from home it’s four losses from their last six in the league. Obviously strange things can happen at this stage of the campaign, but they appear to be a lost cause and destined for Ligue Two.

Inter to continue to falter at home

Bet 3: Back Roma & Draw @ 1/1 – KO 19:30 BST

It’s third versus fifth in Serie A this evening and I’m backing the fifth placed team to avoid defeat, even though they are away from home.

Inter’s record at the San Siro hasn’t been that great in 2019, as since the turn of the year, they have played six times in the league and only won twice. They were held 0-0 by Atalanta most recently, and prior to that they were beaten 1-0 by Lazio.

Roma aren’t having one of their best campaigns, but they are still in the hunt for a Champions League place, with back to back 1-0 wins helping their cause.

Away from home it’s just two defeats from their last seven for the visitors, and new manager, Claudio Ranieri, led them to a 1-0 victory at Sampdoria most recently.
