Andrew Hughes is backing Uruguay to get the better of Ecuador in Sunday’s Copa America game as he lines up another weekend multiple.
“Ecuador finished two off the bottom of last year’s CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers and they go into this tournament without a win in their last four games…”
The Copa America kicks off this weekend and Betting.Betfair has you covered with all the latest tips and previews for this feast of football.
Uruguay have landed in a relatively tough section that also includes Japan and the reigning champions Chile, but their first assignment looks straightforward.
Ecuador finished two off the bottom of last year’s CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers and they go into this tournament without a win in their last four games, while Uruguay can boast an aggregate score of 10-0 over their last three matches. Their resolute defence combined with a strike force of Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani impressed at last summer’s World Cup and they should win this one easily.
There’s everything to play for at the World Cup as the semi-finals draw closer and you can stay up to date on the cricket action on the Betting.Betfair World Cup page.
England and Australia have the Ashes, but when it comes to cricket rivalry, there is nothing to match the intensity of the competition between India and Pakistan, who have played out some dramatic encounters in all formats of the game.
Pakistan have the ability to beat anyone on their day, as they showed against England in their second game, but when it comes to this tournament, they don’t have a great record against their neighbours. In fact, they’ve lost all six of their World Cup meetings, and given the disparity in batting strength between the two sides at the moment, I can’t see Sarfaraz Ahmed’s side improving that record this weekend.
St George/Illawara Dragons ended a five-game losing streak in the NRL last weekend when they thrashed bottom club Canterbury Bulldogs 36-12, but while that may give them a confidence boost, they face a much tougher test on Sunday.
Manly’s form this season has been patchy, but they’re going in the right direction, and with Tom Trbojevic and Daly Cherry-Evans back together, they can only get stronger as they push for a top-four finish. They have work to do in some areas, including reducing their penalty count, but the power of Martin Taupau and Addin Fonua-Blake will give them the edge here and they look a solid bet for the win.
