The Daily Acca: Elland Road to be rocking

It’s Championship, Ligue One and La Liga action for Paul Robinson today as Friday’s edition of the Daily Acca is a 29/1 shot. Here are his selections:

Leeds to move clear at the top

Bet 1: Back Leeds & BTTS @ 13/5 – KO 19:45 GMT

The big game in England is Leeds versus Derby in the Championship as the two high-flyers aim to boost their promotion hopes.

The hosts are top of the table with 51 points from their 26 fixtures to date, but they have lost their last two. Defeats against Hull and Nottingham Forest have seen their lead at the top reduce and they also crashed out of the FA Cup at QPR last weekend.

The Rams are in sixth place but they haven’t been winning many matches lately either. It’s just one win in six in all competitions for Frank Lampard’s men, but they have put up some credible performances during that period – they actually only lost once.

This should be a real classic between two attacking teams, and I’m actually backing Marcelo Bielsa’s side to bounce back with a victory. I very much doubt they will be able to stop Derby from scoring, but home advantage could prove key here. It’s also worth noting that Leeds’ two most recent victories at Elland Road were 2-1 and 3-2.

Mark O’Haire is tipping goals in this game.

Spoils to be shared in Lyon

Bet 2: Back The Draw in Lyon v Reims @ 18/5 – KO 19:45 GMT

Lyon are third in Ligue One having won nine of their 18 matches. Leaders, PSG, are well clear, but they trail second placed, Lille, by just two points – and they have a game in hand.

Reims are having a fantastic season considering the fact that they have just been promoted. They are ninth in the table, a mere four points off fourth place, and they have lost the same amount of games as Lille.

The hosts are the warm favourites for this fixture but I wouldn’t want to be backing them at such a short price. They were beaten at home in the cup during the week and it’s just three wins in 10 at home in all competitions.

The visitors meanwhile are unbeaten in four, and away from home they have drawn three of their last four. David Guion’s side are proving tough to beat – even at this higher level – and I fancy them to take a point from their trip to the Groupama Stadium.

Goals to rain in Spain

Bet 3: Back BTTS in Rayo Vallecano v Celta Vigo @ 4/5 – KO 20:00 GMT

We conclude in La Liga for a match between Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo that looks set to have goals at both ends.

Michel’s hosts are second from bottom, but they have won their last two games. They went into the winter break with a 2-1 success over Levante, and they came out of it with a 1-0 win at Real Valladolid.

Celta Vigo meanwhile have suffered two straight defeats – a 2-0 loss at the Nou Camp, before a 2-1 defeat at home to Athletic Club on Monday.

The visitors are usually good for goals and they will be desperate to win this match and start moving up the table again. They have dropped to 14th, but the three points this evening would see them jump to eighth.

The stats are also pointing towards goals as the home side have seen eight of their nine in front of their own fans end with both teams scoring, this year.
