Skipper Patrick Kisnorbo has provided Melbourne City with a pre-Finals Series boost by triggering a one-year contract extension.
The former Socceroos defender has played in all City’s games this season, in what was due to be his second and final campaign with John van ‘t Schip’s side.
His appearances mean he has crossed the threshold to secure another one-year deal, with City confirming on Friday that he would remain at the club next season.
For us it’s about taking every game as it comes.

Kisnorbo had said earlier in the week that he would love to stay, and wasn’t worried about the contract situation.
Van ‘t Schip said: “Patrick is still contracted for one more year and is going to be with us next year.”
The Dutch coach will have a busy off-season as he has to make decisions over whether to offer new contracts to a group of players who are out of contract at the end of the current campaign, including Damien Duff and Rob Wielaert.
Meanwhile City, who are 1.85, will host Wellington Phoenix on Sunday with their Finals Series spot already secured.
The club have been in a long-running battle with Brisbane Roar for sixth spot in the table but Football Federation Australia have banned Perth Glory from this year’s finals so City are guaranteed to finish no lower than sixth.
They have a mathematical chance of overhauling Wellington to grab fourth spot and secure a home final, but they would need to win their remaining three matches and hope the Phoenix failed to secure another point.
Van ‘t Schip said he is not looking at the club’s remaining three games – they finish off with trips to Perth Glory and Adelaide United – as a dress rehearsal for the Finals Series.
“For us it’s about taking every game as it comes,” he said. “We’re happy with the results at home — and in general we’re growing as a team — but now we have to forget about all we’ve done.
“It’s again an exam on Sunday and I am confident that the boys are going to be up for it and prepared to give everything they have.”
Wellington Phoenix are 4.00 to beat City with the draw 3.60.
