Devante Clut scored twice on his first start of the season as Brisbane Roar drew 3-3 with Suwon Bluewings in the Asian Champions League.

Clut stepped in for marquee man Thomas Broich as the German sat out an ACL fixture for the first time, and netted with 10 minutes left to earn his side a point at Cbus Super Stadium.

In just his third senior match for Brisbane, the 19-year-old scored his first goal midway through the first half to give his side a two-goal cushion over the Koreans.

Suwon hit back when Seo Jung Jin grabbed a brace either side of the interval and Chong Tese then put them 3-2 ahead with 19 minutes left.

The Roar need to finish above Suwon to grab the second Group G qualification spot behind runaway leaders Beijing Guoan, so the return match in Korea in three weeks’ time could be the pivotal fixture in their campaign.

Frans Thijssen’s side looked to be well on their way to three points after taking a 2-0 lead inside 23 minutes.

Brandon Borrello, who scored the only goal in their win against Urawa Red Diamonds two weeks earlier, got on the end of an Andrija Kaluderovic pass after skipper Matt McKay had unlocked the visitors’ defence.

Borrello was again involved in the second goal 10 minutes later, combining with Clut whose excellent finish was too good for keeper No Donggeon.

Seo had Suwon level by the 49th minute, scoring his first after Luke Brattan lost possession in midfield to give him the chance to bear down on goal and beat Jamie Young with a low angled drive.

His second goal was a superb individual effort as he weaved his way through the defence before firing past Young.
Suwon went ahead when the Roar defence failed to pick out the run of Jong and he converted skipper Yeom Ki Hun’s cross from close range.

But Clut had the last word, firing in a fierce shot from outside the area that the keeper was unable to tip over.

Brisbane Roar are 15.00 to win the A-League Grand Final.
