Jason Davidson will put his frustrations to one side when he plays for Australia in their friendly against world champions Germany in Kaiserslautern.
Davidson has become the forgotten man at West Bromwich Albion since moving to the Premier League side from Heracles Almelo last August.
His move from the Eredivisie came as a reward after he did well for the Socceroos at the World Cup in Brazil, but things just haven’t worked out for him at The Hawthorns.
I am still working hard and training hard waiting for my opportunity.
The left-back has played just two Premier League games for Albion and has not featured since Tony Pulis took over as first-team coach at the start of this year.
Davidson’s hopes that success with the Socceroos in the Asian Cup would help his cause at club level have been dashed so far.
He is in the frame to face Germany and FYR Macedonia in friendlies during Australia’s European trip. Australia are 13.00 to beat Germany, who are 1.16 with the draw 7.50.
The 23-year-old, who played four times as Australia won the Asian Cup on home soil in January, hasn’t played for West Brom since October.
“I am still working hard and training hard waiting for my opportunity,” he said. “It’s been a tough year but at least with the national team a lot of positives have come out of that at the World Cup and then the Asian Cup.
“I know my qualities and I know what I can produce and I’ve been showing that for the national team and I want to show that over here in England. But I can only do that if I am on the pitch and given the chance.
“Having played at the World Cup and winning an Asian Cup, I don’t think anybody can say I am not good enough because I know I am. I have played against some of the best players in the world.”
Davidson is likely to get the nod over Aziz Behich to take on Germany, giving him a confidence boost ahead of June’s World Cup qualifiers.
Australia are 2.60 to beat FYR Macedonia, who are 2.60 with the draw 3.10.
