Golden Boot winner Marc Janko is pleased that Sydney FC are sharing the goals around the team heading into Sunday’s Grand Final.

The Austrian striker was the A-League’s top scorer with 16 from 23 appearances, and scored in a record seven consecutive games as the Sky Blues made their move following the Asian Cup break.

Graham Arnold’s team picked up more points than anyone else from the time the league re-started in late January, though the question was whether they were over-reliant on Janko.

At the moment it’s all about balance in our team and I’m so happy the guys around me have started to score a lot of goals.

Sydney won six and drew one of the games during their marquee’s remarkable scoring run, but the good thing for the Sky Blues is that their success has continued since he stopped hitting the net – Janko has not scored in his last five appearances.

Since then the likes of Bernie Ibini and skipper Alex Brosque have taken on the responsibility. Brosque has scored seven in the last four games and Ibini has found the target in four consecutive matches.

Both scored goals in the 4-1 win over Adelaide United, Brosque grabbing a brace, as Sydney booked their place in the Grand Final against premiers Melbourne Victory.

Janko said: “At the moment it’s all about balance in our team and I’m so happy the guys around me have started to score a lot of goals. Brosquey, Bernie, and that’s only showing that they don’t have to look after only me, they have to look after our whole offensive. That’s a good thing for us.”

Victory will have home advantage in the decider, at AAMI Park, but that won’t worry Sydney too much as they have not lost away from home all season.

Janko said: “I think they are the favourites, but I think we showed impressive away form, so maybe it’s meant to be that we beat them at their home ground.”

Sydney FC are 3.10 to beat Victory, who are 2.20 with the draw 3.50.
