Former Perth Glory defender Scott Jamieson expects to sign a contract with a new club early next week – but won’t say yet where he is heading.

The former Socceroo was granted his release by Perth on Thursday, following goalkeepers Danny Vukovic and Jack Duncan and attacker Youssouf Hersi through the exit door.

He has been strongly linked to Western Sydney Wanderers, who need to restock their squad after wholesale departures since the end of last season. Wanderers are 13.00 to win the 2015-16 Grand Final.

I would like to think I will have my future decided in the next 48 to 72 hours.

The full-back hails from western Sydney and was a junior with Blacktown City.

Wanderers are unlikely to be his only suitors in the A-League – his availability will have alerted previous clubs Sydney FC and Adelaide United.

His previous attempts to have a career overseas have ended in disappointment, but he isn’t ruling anything out at this stage.

Jamieson spent two years with Bolton Wanderers without playing a first-team game, and had an unsuccessful trial in 2010 with German second division side Greuther Furth. Bolton are 6.50 to be promoted from the Championship in 2015-16.

The 26-year-old said: “In regards to overseas, that’s always been around. I know I’m good enough but I have to sum up everything and it’s about timing.

“I want to learn, I want to become a better player and that’s also an important thing in regards to my decision.

“Hopefully in regards to my future that will definitely happen; I would like to think I will have my future decided in the next 48 to 72 hours. I’m just being patient and trying to find the right place for me to get tested every day.”

Meanwhile, Adelaide United went down 3-2 in their friendly against Spanish side Villarreal at Coopers Stadium on Friday.

Craig Goodwin and Michael Marrone scored to put the Reds in control at 2-0 five minutes into the second half.

Manu Trigueros and Luciano Vietto drew the Spanish side level before Gerard netted their winner in injury time.
