Sydney FC have made a second signing in as many days by bringing in Serbia international Milos Ninkovic on a two-year contract.

The 30-year-old will take up one of the Sky Blues’ three available overseas visa spots, two of which were filled last season by his fellow countrymen Milos Dimitrijevic and Nikola Petkovic.

He shows the type of quality we want at Sydney FC.

Ninkovic arrives after playing 17 times in the French Ligue I for Evian last season when he was used on the wings and in a variety of midfield roles.

He has played 28 times for Serbia, including against the Socceroos in the 2010 World Cup.
Sydney FC are 5.00 to win the Grand Final.

His signing come a day after Sky Blues coach Graham Arnold recruited former Central Coast Mariners defender Zac Anderson.

The club have also brought in ex-Perth Glory duo Riley Woodcock and Brandon O’Neill, but are still likely to do more business ahead of the new campaign after losing 12 players from last season’s squad including Golden Boot winner Marc Janko.

Arnold said he was excited by Ninkovic’s arrival, adding: “He’s got a wonderful pedigree – last year he played in the top league in France and the 2010 World Cup and he shows the type of quality we want at Sydney FC.”

Ninkovic, who twice won the Ukrainian Premier League title with Dynamo Kiev, said he was eager to show Australia what he could do.

He added: “I’m excited to be able to play in the Asian Champions League and I hope I can bring success to Sydney FC. I want to win silverware.”

Sydney FC are 2.20 to win their opening match of the A-League season against Melbourne City, who are 2.90 with the draw 3.40.

Meanwhile, defender Jason Hoffman is reported to be seeking a return to Newcastle Jets after being freed by Melbourne City.

Hoffman, who had played 80 times for City, was the club’s last foundation player.

The former Australia youth international spent three years with the Jets at the start of his career, winning the A-League Grand Final with them in 2008.
