Brisbane Roar picked up another win against Adelaide United.

Brisbane Roar maintained their dominance of Adelaide United as they beat the Reds 3-2 at Coopers Stadium.

The defending champions secured their spot in the Finals Series with their seventh victory in nine meetings with United.

The defeat stopped Adelaide taking over top spot from Melbourne Victory, who had suffered a shock home loss to bottom side Newcastle Jets on Friday.

Brisbane, who are 51.00 to win the Asian Champions League, have not lost at Coopers Stadium in their past eight games, and took a firm grip on the encounter when scored two first-half goals.

A superb flick from Jean Carlos Solorzano gave Andrija Kaludjerovic the chance to go through against Eugene Galekovic and slide the ball past the keeper for the opener on 15 minutes.

The second goal was embarrassing for Galekovic, who had two attempts to clear a high ball pumped into the area. He watched it bounce over his head and then, trying to get there ahead of Solorzano, could only knock the ball into his own net.

The home side were much better after the break, but there was no way back from a killer third goal nine minutes into the half. Defender Jack Hingert scored his first A-League goal, in his 86th game, after being played in and beating Galekovic at his near post.

The Reds deserved something for their efforts and pulled a goal back with 19 minutes left, Isaias sending a ball over the top for Sergio Cirio to cross to where Craig Goodwin tapped into an empty net at the far post.

There was drama in the final minute of injury time when Nigel Boogaard, appearing to be offside in Brisbane’s box, was brought down by Daniel Bowles who was dismissed for the foul. Pablo Sanchez smacked home the penalty, but it proved to be the last kick of the game.

Brisbane are 2.90 to win their next game against Melbourne Victory, who are 2.20 with the draw 3.40.
