Coach Graham Arnold expects his Sydney FC side to face a tough examination against Brisbane Roar as they look to equal a club record at Allianz Stadium.

The Sky Blues, who are 2.00, will equal their best mark of nine consecutive games unbeaten if they avoid defeat against the defending champions on Sunday. Brisbane are 3.60 and the draw is 3.50.

Marc has obviously been on a great role of late and I’m sure he wants to continue it.

At the same time, marquee striker Marc Janko goes looking for a goal that would make him the first player in A-League history to find the net in seven consecutive matches.

The Roar, though, are like Sydney in being unbeaten since the league resumed after the Asian Cup break and Arnold acknowledges they have come into good form.

Brisbane had a poor first half of the season, but the Sky Blues coach said: “I think overall as a team they’re getting back to where they were.

“It’s no coincidence that Thomas Broich has come back in and they’re performing much better,” he added. “So we have to make sure we’re at the top of our game.”

Speaking of Janko’s record bid, Arnold said: “Marc has obviously been on a great role of late and I’m sure he wants to continue it, but at the moment we’ve got to concentrate on a team performance and make sure our structures are good, we play to the game plan and if all that comes to fruition then hopefully Marc can get the record he wants.”

Sydney have been better away from home than at Allianz Stadium this season, earning nine more points from their away matches.

But they have scored seven goals in their last two home games, doubling the tally from their previous eight matches.

Arnold has Alex Gersbach and Mickael Tavares back from suspension, while Jacques Faty could return after two weeks out with a hamstring strain if he comes through the final training session.

The Roar are set to bring in Socceroos midfielder Adam Sarota for the injured Luke Brattan.
