Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe praised his side’s clinical finishing in the 5-1 demolition of Fulham at Craven Cottage on Friday.
The result improved the Cherries’ chances of going up to the Premier League this season, they are now 1.61 to be promoted, while Fulham are 9.00 to be relegated to League One.
Brett Pitman and Matt Ritchie scored twice for Bournemouth, while Steve Cook was also on target, with Matt Smith grabbing outclassed Fulham’s only goal. The Cottagers also had Fernando Amorebieta sent off.
During the five games we didn’t win, I felt our performance levels were very strong.
Howe said of Bournemouth, who have now scored 74 goals in the Championship this season: “We started the game very well and were very positive. We scored at good times, the lads were clinical in front of goal and we probably could have scored more.
“Winning against Wolves in midweek gave us a big lift and restored our confidence. I thought that showed early in the game and was very pleased with how we started.
“During the five games we didn’t win, I felt our performance levels were very strong. We were dominating games but we weren’t being clinical enough in both boxes. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with the team and think we have proved that.”
