Chelsea v Liverpool

Victory over Crystal Palace last weekend gave Chelsea the Premier League trophy and it’s hard to argue that it wasn’t thoroughly deserved. Jose Mourinho’s side have been the best team in the division and while they have been knocked for being boring, I wouldn’t necessarily agree.
The Blues have only been outscored by Manchester City this season and their matches have averaged 2.74 goals each time – the fifth highest average in the league. A total of 15 of their 35 outings have had at least three goals and with the title in the bag, the shackles will likely come off again.
It has to be classed as disappointing campaign for Liverpool as after going so close to the title last year, they have been well off the pace this time around. Champions League football won’t be coming to Merseyside next season and Brendan Rodgers needs to address the problem areas in the summer months.
As far as the goals go, with 49 scored and 38 conceded so far this term, their matches are averaging 2.49 goals each time. While that is lower than Chelsea’s average, they have actually had more games go over 2.5 – 18 to be precise – and I quite fancy them to score at Stamford Bridge.
This should be quite an entertaining game of football, so with under 2.5 goals trading at around the [1.88] mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
