The agent of Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has dismissed rumours suggesting that his client is keen to leave England and join Roma this summer.
The 29-year-old Bosnia-Herzegovina international has struggled for regular starts with the Citizens in recent times and has been linked with a possible exit after four-and-a-half-years at the Etihad Stadium.
I have had no contact with Roma, nor am I aware of any talks between the two clubs.
However, agent Irfan Redzepagic has played down comments from Dzeko’s international team-mate Miralem Pjanic, suggesting that his fellow Bosnian could join him in the Italian capital.
He told Italian radio station Rete Sport: “I was frankly surprised by Pjanic’s comments, unless he knows something that I don’t.
“I have had no contact with Roma, nor am I aware of any talks between the two clubs. It’s not a financial issue, he simply doesn’t want to leave the Citizens.”
Twenty-nine-year-old Dzeko moved to England from German outfit Wolfsburg in 2011 and has since scored 50 Premier League goals in 130 appearances for City, helping them win the League Cup, the FA Cup and the league title on two occasions.
Last season he scored four goals in the Premier League from 22 appearances, half of which came as a substitute, with head coach Manuel Pellegrini often fielding Sergio Aguero as a lone striker.
City eventually finished in second place in the table behind Chelsea, ending the campaign with six straight league victories.
The men from Manchester can be backed at 3.75 to be crowned champions next season, with Chelsea 2.50 to retain their title and Arsenal 5.50.
