Sergio Aguero is adamant that Manchester City can still win the Premier League title despite their disappointing run since the turn of the year.
However, the Argentina international accepts that Manuel Pellegrini’s team must beat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday if they are to have any chance of catching current leaders Chelsea.
Aguero scored the winner against United in November but City are now nine points behind Chelsea and go into Sunday’s derby in fourth position, one point worse off than Louis van Gaal’s side.
City lost 2-1 at Crystal Palace on Monday and have only won four of their last 11 Premier League matches since edging past Sunderland 3-2 on New Year’s Day.
Aguero, 2.30 to score at any time on Sunday, said: “Of course we can still win the Premier League. In football, anything can happen. As soon as you think something is certain then everything changes.
Of course we can still win the Premier League. In football, anything can happen.
“We have seen it so many times before and we’ll see it again. We only focus on ourselves, try to win every game we play and keep pressure on Chelsea.
“Manchester United are a team with a lot of great individual players, who can form an incredible unit when they work well together. We know we will have to be at our very best to beat them.”
Manchester City are available at 3.75 to keep a clean sheet at Old Trafford and can be backed at 11.00 to edge the derby 1-0.
