Leighton Baines will not travel with the rest of the Everton squad on their pre-season tour of Singapore because he is continuing to recover from an ankle injury.

The former Wigan Athletic left-back had surgery on the problem in May when it was thought he would have made a full recovery in time for the start of pre-season training.

Bryan Oviedo and Darron Gibson will also miss the trip as they are continuing their own recoveries from toe and foot injuries respectively.

However, new signings Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu have been included in the 24-man party for the tour.

Everton are set to take on Stoke City on 15th July before coming up against either Arsenal or a Singapore Select XI three days later.

Meanwhile, Phil Jagielka is thrilled that Luke Garbutt has signed a new five-year deal with the club.

The experienced Everton captain said of the 22-year-old: “I’m delighted he’s signed a deal. It’s been a little bit messy for him, although it’s not particularly been his fault, it’s just sometimes the way contract negotiations go.

“I know he loves being here. With the way it got drawn out, I’m sure there were other offers and promises from other teams to give him first-team football.”

Everton are 1.25 to finish in the top half of the Premier League table in 2015/16 and 3.75 to clinch a top-six finish. They are also 1.72 to beat Watford in their opening game of the campaign on 8th August.
