Steve Bruce remains upbeat about his Hull City team’s chances of avoiding relegation despite their difficult fixtures in the last two months of the season.
The Tigers boss also has faith in the strike pairing of Dame N’Doye and Abel Hernandez to get among the goals as top-scorer Nikica Jelavic will not play in April because of a knee injury.
Hull resume their fight to beat the drop this weekend when they face Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in a game Bruce’s side are 15.00 to win 2-1.
I’m convinced Abel will be a goalscorer and a good player for us. Sometimes you just have to wait.
N’Doye and Hernandez were extremely lively in the recent 3-2 home defeat to Chelsea and Bruce believes they can continue that form in south Wales.
“Against Chelsea, we were without Jelavic – and Tom Huddlestone and Mo Diame – yet we still managed to put in a hell of a performance because we’ve got people who can step in, such as N’Doye and Abel,” said Bruce.
“Abel has been showing all the signs and he’s played against England’s two best centre-backs, John Terry and Gary Cahill, and given them a hell of a going over. That bodes well.
“I’m convinced he’ll be a goalscorer and a good player for us. Sometimes you just have to wait.”
Hernandez’s goal against Chelsea was the first the £10million summer capture had scored for five months. He is 4.33 to score at any time against the Swans.
The Uruguay international has found the net four times this season while N’Doye has three goals to his name following his arrival from Lokomotiv Moscow on transfer deadline day.
