Louis van Gaal has said he will not hesitate signing more players this summer if he feels his Manchester United squad needs improving.
The former champions this week announced they had beaten Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Netherlands striker Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven on a four-year contract.
“Manchester United shall always react when it is necessary in our eyes.”

The 21-year-old is van Gaal’s eighth signing since he arrived at Old Trafford but the manager said fans can expect more new arrivals if he feels his squad is short of quality.
“Manchester United shall always react when it is necessary in our eyes,” he told reporters in his pre-match briefing.
The former Netherlands coach has been credited with an interest in defenders Nathaniel Clyne of Southampton and Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund, while reports have suggested he is also keen to bring Gareth Bale back to the Premier League from Real Madrid.
Depay has scored 21 goals in 28 games for PSV this year and van Gaal, while delighted to steal a march on United’s rivals, said he hoped his arrival would not distract his players from avoiding a fourth straight defeat against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
“I have been forced to sign him,” van Gaal said.
“I didn’t want to sign him before the end of the season. We have to focus on our games.
“When you sign a player you disturb the focus of your present group of players. The coming matches are very important for Manchester United and for all of the players. But because of the market, I must handle it (now) – because otherwise he would have signed for PSG.”
Manchester United are currently priced 1.012 to secure a Premier League top-four finish at the end of the season.
