Angel Di Maria has revealed how he found it tough being left out at Manchester United last season but he says it will not stop him fighting for his place in the team.
The Argentine winger says he has come back from difficult times in the past and is not about to quit English football after one season.
Joining from Real Madrid last August, Di Maria became Man United’s most expensive signing. He started well but by the New Year was struggling with injuries and form and he soon found himself playing a bit-part role in Louis van Gaal’s team.
He says it hurt being left out, but that he can overcome it.
I like to take things on when it seems difficult, to show what I have been doing for some years now.

“I began well, with goals and assists,” he said. “I was going well, until I was left out. It is a bit difficult to explain why I was not playing, although it was not the case that, because I cost a lot of money, I had to be a starting player.”
“It was difficult – it is very tough for me to be a substitute. For me, for my family, because things are not going as you want, because I am not playing. It is difficult to say what you feel like there.”
Despite rumours linking him with a move away this summer, Di Maria is determined to prove his worth to Man United next season; with the Red Devils 6.00 to win the Premier League.
“At Madrid there were moments when the whole stadium whistled me, but I fronted up and in the end turned things around,” he said.
“I like to take things on when it seems difficult, to show what I have been doing for some years now.”
Chelsea are 2.50 to retain the title, with Liverpool currently 21.00.
