Sean Dyche has accepted that he will be without Danny Ings when Burnley’s Championship campaign begins in just over ten weeks’ time.
The Clarets bowed out of the top flight with a 1-0 win at Aston Villa on Sunday, Ings scoring his 11th goal of the season, before confirming that he had played his last game for the club.
Dyche is already thinking about guiding Burnley back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, and they can be backed at 5.50 to be promoted from the Championship next season, while Middlesbrough are 4.50 to go up and Birmingham City 17.00.
I don’t think Danny’s thirsty to go anywhere, I just think he wants a fresh challenge.
Dyche admitted: “I don’t think Danny’s thirsty to go anywhere, I just think he wants a fresh challenge, and certainly wants to be in the Premier League, but so does everyone.
“He gets a lot of the headlines, and we understand that, goalscorers always do, but I wouldn’t single him out overly from the rest of the group because there’s some players who have matured, and people will be saying ‘they’ve got some good players there’.”
