Burnley manager Sean Dyche has warned his players not to think that their win over Manchester City will be a defining moment in their season.

A George Boyd strike gave the Clarets a famous victory at Turf Moor and moved them to within one point of Premier League safety, but Dyche was wary of reading too much into one result.

He told reporters: “We have never been broken. We have been dented a few times and had a few knocks and clips across the jaw, but we stay on our feet and get ready to go again.

“That will be needed again. This doesn’t define our season. It might do, but there is no guarantee, so we have to be ready next week and beyond and we will.

“The players have a way of working and the demand to give everything is absolutely there, so it bodes well for the future.”

Next up for the Clarets is a long trip to Southampton next Saturday, with Burnley buoyed by their first win in eight league games and hoping to complete an escape from relegation come the end of the season.

Burnley are currently 1.61 to drop back down to the Championship, with Queens Park Rangers 1.14 and Sunderland 2.50.
