Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis is set to return to action after a month-long lay-off when Garry Monk’s side take on Arsenal on Monday evening.
The Frenchman has been sidelined with a hamstring injury but has returned to training and is set to face the Gunners, who are unbeaten in ten matches.
Gomis has not played since picking up the injury in last month’s draw with Everton.
We can’t afford to be anywhere near off it at a place like Arsenal.
Monk accepts that the Swans face a very difficult task against an Arsenal side that is 6.50 to win the 2015/16 Premier League title outright.
“My message will be that we can’t afford to be anywhere near off it at a place like Arsenal,” said the Swansea boss.
“It’s a chance for us to express ourselves, but we understand how difficult it will be with the form they’re in and the home record they have.
“It’s for us to try to relish that, but we know the hard work we need to do first to put yourself in the game, as we have done all season.”
There is some bad news for Swansea as Nelson Oliveira is not expected to play again this season because of an ankle injury.
Oliveira, whose loan spell from Benfica ends this month, limped out of last weekend’s win over Stoke.
“Unfortunately Nelson won’t be fit for Monday and it may be that he is not available for the two games after that,” Monk added.
“It’s disappointing for him because he has waited for a chance and he’s done well since he came into the side.”
