Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas insists he is happy even though his form in the last ten weeks has not been as good as in the first half of the season.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho signed the 27-year-old former Arsenal and Barcelona star last summer for £25million and Fabregas responded by being one of the Premier League’s star performers in the first five months of the campaign.
He was credited with 15 assists by mid-January, as well as scoring two goals, but in his last 11 matches he has failed to find the net and has created only one goal.
The important thing is the team and if the coach does not put you in, it is because they are better.
Fabregas was sidelined in February with a hamstring injury but the Spaniard says that has nothing to do with the supposed deterioration in his form.
He said: “I am going through a great moment, both personally and athletic. I have no reason not to be happy. I enjoy everything that happens to me.
“I am practically playing every minute for my team and that’s what makes me happy. To be important is fundamental. Now we have to fight hard for the Premier League to end a great year.
“I do not think I’ve lost my place in the team because I’ve never been undisputed. The important thing is the team and, if the coach does not put you in, it is because other players are better.”
Chelsea face Stoke City on Saturday and can be backed at 7.50 to win the Stamford Bridge clash 3-0, with Fabregas available at 4.00 to score at any time.
