Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is looking for the squad to use the pre-season tour of Asia and Australia to gel ahead of the Premier League campaign.
The 25-year-old England international midfielder, who is fully taking over the captaincy at Anfield from Los Angeles Galaxy-bound Steven Gerrard, is relishing the battle to try and get back into the top-four Champions League qualification places in 2015-16.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has already drafted in six new faces this summer in the shape of James Milner, Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, Adam Bogdan, Roberto Firmino and Nathaniel Clyne, so there is a need for them to try and gain an understanding of their team-mates.
To be together for a couple of weeks is good, to make sure that we’re all on the same page and wanting to do the same thing.
And Henderson feels the upcoming busy schedule for the club, ahead of the new season opener against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on 9th August, will give them plenty of time to gel into a team that can hit the ground running next month.
Henderson told LFCTour.com: “To be together for a couple of weeks is good, to make sure that we’re all on the same page and wanting to do the same thing.
“For the new lads, it’s a case of getting to know each other and gelling as a team, ready for the first game.”
There is a possibility that at least one more player will arrive as Rodgers is keen to add another striker to his attacking options after their struggles in front of goal last season played a big part in them missing out on the Champions League.
Liverpool are 3.75 to secure a top-four finish in 2015-16, while they are 21.00 to win the Premier League.
