Jordan Henderson is adamant that Liverpool can start winning trophies in the next few seasons after penning a new long-term contract with the club.
The 24-year-old, who moved to Anfield from Sunderland in the summer of 2011, has scored 20 goals in 180 appearances for the Reds.
England international Henderson told Liverpool’s official website: “I’m over the moon that it’s finally done.
“There’s been talk about it for a while now. It’s brilliant news for me to commit my future to this football club – I really feel that it’s a good time for us to look forward to the future, with the squad we’ve got, the manager, the size of the club and the fans we’ve got.
I think the next phase for us is to start challenging for titles and trophies as well.
“I really think, over the next few years, we can challenge and start winning trophies. That’s the next phase; we’ve improved massively over the last few years, and I think the next phase for us is to start challenging for titles and trophies as well.”
Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge have also signed long-term contracts with Liverpool this season.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have struggled at times due to Sturridge’s injury problems and the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona last summer but still managed to reach the Capital One Cup and FA Cup semi-finals.
The Reds are 7.00 to finish in the top four this season though and 1.062 to clinch a top-six spot. Liverpool are available at 10.00 to beat West Brom 2-0 at The Hawthorns on Saturday with Henderson 3.75 to score at any time against the Baggies.
