Hull City boss Steve Bruce hopes Abel Hernandez can score the goals in the last two months of the season that will keep the Tigers in the Premier League.
Hull have a difficult run-in, starting with Sunday’s game against Chelsea at the KC Stadium, which they are 17.00 to win 1-0.
Bruce has lost top-scorer Nikica Jelavic to injury and hopes Hernandez can fill the void left by the Croatian.
Now is the time for Hernandez.
Jelavic was forced to undergo knee surgery this week and is set to miss at least six weeks of action and possibly the rest of the season.
Bruce said: “It has been made harder without Jela. It has been the story for us this season, if I have to be honest. For big chunks of the season, we have had to be without key players. That, for me, is one of the reasons why we have had the struggle we have had.
“Now is the time for Hernandez. I have been very, very pleased with him, especially over the last three or four weeks. He looks far more settled. He looks as if he is happier round the place. He is learning the language and looks used to being in England.”
Hernandez is available at 4.75 to score at any time against Chelsea on Sunday for a Hull team that is 3.75 to be relegated this season.
