Liverpool have been hit by the news starlet Jordon Ibe will be out of action for up to three weeks with a knee injury.

The teenager, who has burst into the limelight after some fine performances for the Reds, suffered the injury during the Merseysiders’ Europa League defeat at Besiktas on Thursday.

After further analysis it has now been confirmed Ibe will be out until the end of the month and manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted the news does come as a blow.

He said: “Jordon twisted his knee in Turkey, and had to come off towards the end. He has had a scan on that.

“It is not too serious but it’s probably just going to mean him out for a few weeks.

“We’ll probably have him back towards the end of March.”

Liverpool will begin life without Ibe when they host Burnley in the Premier League on Wednesday.

The Reds are 1.36 to win, 5.25 to draw and 10.00 to lose to the Clarets at Anfield.
