Boss Roberto Martinez has called on his Everton side to make a strong finish to the Premier League season to boost his options in the summer transfer market.
The Toffees welcome Manchester United to Goodison Park on Sunday, with the hosts having moved up to 12th place in the table on the back of a run of four wins and a draw in their last five games.
It is the sort of test we need now to see how good we actually are.
And Martinez is keen to see that sort of form maintained in the closing five games of the campaign, with a finish in the top half of the table within their reach.
He told reporters: “Finishing the season strong is very important and finishing one position above really matters to us.
“It could be crucial to what we do in the summer, so we have to finish the season really strong to get as high as we can.
“Sunday is about more than just three points. It will be a sell-out crowd again, the more points we can get can change many things going forward. It’s the type of game we need.
“We are in a good moment, but United are also in a very good moment, so I feel it is a chance to test ourselves. It is the sort of test we need now to see how good we actually are.”
Martinez has been boosted by the return to full training this week of midfield pair Leon Osman and James McCarthy, while striker Romelu Lukaku has pulled up okay after making his first appearance in nearly a month in the 1-0 win over Burnley.
Everton can be backed at 3.70 to secure a win on Sunday and are 3.75 to keep a clean sheet, with Lukaku 7.00 to score the final goal of the game.
