David Meyler says survival is in Hull City’s own hands and he is paying no attention to their relegation rivals.
The Tigers are three points clear of the drop zone but with games against the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United ahead of them they face a real battle to avoid the drop.
Meyler, however, remains convinced Hull will retain their Premier League status and insists he doesn’t worry about other team’s results.
“I don’t really worry about what the other teams are doing around us,” he said.
“Obviously, you look at the results and watch Match of the Day, but we can only worry about ourselves.
“You hear that a lot but that’s what I believe. It’s up to us.
Meyler concedes that on paper Hull appear to have a tough run in, but he stressed his side are relishing the prospect of facing teams battling for a top four finish and believes they can pick up points against any opposition, having impressed in a 3-2 defeat to Chelsea last time out.
He added: “We’re in a great position and yes we’ve got some good teams to play, but we want to test ourselves against the best.
“The manager (Steve Bruce) has drummed that into us since we got promoted and it’s never changed.
“If we can build on the Chelsea performance then we’ll beat the majority of teams we play.”
Hull, who are 1.25 not to be relegated, travel to Swansea in the next round of fixtures and can be backed at 4.00 to take all three points.
