Swansea City boss Garry Monk says he has no intention of resting on his laurels having signed a new three-year deal at the Liberty Stadium.

Having taken over initially as interim boss following the departure of Michael Laudrup in February 2014, Monk has thrived in the dugout at the Liberty.

Swansea secured eighth place in the Premier League table with Monk being the highest finishing English manager in the standings.

Having penned a new deal at the club, Monk is keen on bringing further success to the Welsh outfit.

He told the club’s official website: “This is my 12th year at Swansea and I’ve always given everything for the club.

“Last season was fantastic and I learned a lot to take forward. But even with the success we all had, from the staff to the players, you can never afford to stand still.

“It’s been a happy and productive 18 months so far for me as manager.

“I believe we have put good foundations in place, but now it’s vital we build on that and push forward.”

Swansea are 12.00 to draw their first game of the 2015/16 season at Chelsea 1-1 and are 2.25 to finish in the top half of the table.
