Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has dismissed claims star striker Diego Costa is unsettled at the club.
The Blues boss stated sarcastically that he is happy with the player’s so-called “unhappiness”.
Reports have emerged over the last week that Costa is ready to move back to Atletico Madrid in Spain due to the fact that he is struggling to get to grips with life in England.
However, Mourinho has rejected the speculation, saying: “I’m happy he’s unhappy because his unhappiness destroys my dressing room. He is the guy responsible for every single good moment in the dressing room.”
The Chelsea manager went on to talk about how happy the Spain international is and how he acts in a positive manner around others.
He added: “He is so happy, he is so funny and he is enjoying every minute at Chelsea and people are enjoying every single minute of him.
“So if this is unhappiness I am happy with that. But he was not happy with that news.”
Costa was Chelsea’s top-scorer in their Premier League-winning season, netting 20 goals, meaning that any notion of Costa being unhappy at the club can be soundly put to bed.
With Didier Drogba leaving and Loic Remy struggling to reach the heights expected of him at times, Costa is Mourinho’s main striker and Chelsea cannot afford to lose his services.
The Blues are 2.37 to retain their Premier League crown next season.
