Gabriel Agbonlahor, Olivier Giroud, Leonardo Ulloa and Wayne Rooney get the Opta seal of approval this weekend…
Aston Villa v Swansea (Saturday, 15:00)
Gabriel Agbonlahor has scored in two of his last three Premier League appearances against Swansea
Agbonlahor is one of several Aston Villa players seemingly revitalised by Tim Sherwood’s arrival, striking three times in his last three matches compared to three times in 25 outings prior to that this season. Villa as a unit have converted six times across their past two Premier League fixtures, which is more than in the 13 before combined. Swansea have conceded at least twice in nine of their last 14 road trips.
Recommended Bet: Back Agbonlahor to score @ 3.613/5
Newcastle v Arsenal (Saturday, 15:00)
Olivier Giroud has netted six goals in five Premier League appearances against the Magpies
Giroud has shot himself into player of the month contention with three deadlock-breaking strikes in three March starts, which he followed up with a Champions League goal at Monaco in midweek to put his wasteful first-leg display behind him. In total, the Frenchman has notched six times in six domestic appearances, so couldn’t be facing one of his favourite defences in much better form.
Recommended Bet: Back Giroud to score @ 2.26/5
Tottenham v Leicester (Saturday, 15:00)
Leonardo Ulloa has scored in all four of his starts against north London sides Arsenal and Tottenham
Leicester’s big winter signing Andrej Kramaric is replicating the Ulloa trajectory of following a strong first impression (goals in successive games at Arsenal and Aston Villa) with a cooling-off period (three blanks in a row since). Given the original’s sterling record against the Gunners and Spurs, which includes netting at White Hart Lane in the FA Cup, he is perhaps due a recall. Even if Ulloa doesn’t start, he should be granted enough time to make an impact: he has played in 27 of the Foxes’ 28 top-flight encounters.
Recommended Bet: Back Ulloa to score @ 4.57/2
Liverpool v Man United (Sunday, 13:30, Sky Sports 1)
Wayne Rooney has scored or assisted 250 Man United Premier League goals (169 goals, 81 assists)
Rooney’s reunion with the centre-forward position has been a beautiful thing to witness, coming complete with four goals in four matches. The result is that the Man United skipper has bagged 13 times for them already this term despite often being deployed deeper than would seem conducive to net-rippling. One of those was the 12th-minute opener when these rivals met at Old Trafford.
Recommended Bet: Back Rooney to score @ 3.39/4
