Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has dismissed claims he could be set to leave the Gunners in the summer.
The Germany international has sometimes struggled to live up to expectations at the Emirates following his £42million move from Real Madrid in 2013 and the playmaker has been linked with a move away from the Premier League and a return to his home country.
I am really happy at Arsenal.
The midfielder has hit just eight goals for the Londoners – and only three this term in an injury-hit campaign – as some have questioned whether his game suits the fast-paced English top flight.
However, Ozil insists he is fully committed to the cause and says he wants to stay.
“A return to Germany is not an option for me right now. I am really happy at Arsenal and I want this to continue,” he told German paper Express.
“I played in the Bundesliga and at Real Madrid. But the English Premier League is the strongest league in the world. Opponents never give up.
“Even if we’re 3-0 in front with Arsenal, the players never give up and fight until the very last second. You can only succeed here when you’re on top level physically.
“I’m working as hard as I never worked before in my life. My body is more stable and I feel fresher. You need that in England.”
Arsenal go to Newcastle on Saturday as they look to get over their Champions League disappointment after being knocked out by Monaco on Tuesday.
Wenger’s side are 1.57 to win, while Newcastle are 6.00 and the draw is 3.80.
The Gunners are still in with an outside chance of catching leaders Chelsea and will hope to beat Manchester City to second place, with just a point separating the two sides ahead of this weekend’s Premier League action.
