Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew believes his club have clinched a real coup by signing Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old put pen to paper on a new three-year contract with the reigning Premier League champions before agreeing to spend the 2015/16 campaign with the Eagles.
I want to try to establish myself in a Premier League team and, if I can do that here, then it would be great for me and great for the club.
And Pardew is delighted to have brought in a player he clearly rates very highly, as he told his club’s official website: “It’s a coup for Crystal Palace ahead of a host of rivals.
“I’m so pleased he chose us over others to help develop his game. Hopefully he will be a star for us, Chelsea and – of course – England.”
And England Under-21 striker Patrick Bamford is hoping to make a big impact during his season-long loan with Palace, as he told the club’s official website: “When I met with the manager, he put forward his plans and it was an easy decision.
“I do like to score goals, so hopefully I’ll be able to do that a lot here. I want to try to establish myself in a Premier League team and, if I can do that here, then it would be great for me and great for the club.”
Bamford has previously impressed during loan spells with MK Dons, Derby County and most recently Middlesbrough, where he scored 17 league goals to help the Teessiders reach the Championship play-off final last season.
Palace can be backed at 2.75 to finish in the top half of the Premier League table next season, with Everton 1.28 and Swansea City 2.20.
