Alan Pardew is confident that Crystal Palace will push reigning Premier League champions Manchester City all the way at Selhurst Park on Monday.
The Eagles go into the game on the back of a run of three wins in four league games which has pushed them well clear of the relegation dogfight and Pardew would like to see his players take the next step by inflicting defeat on one of the title contenders.
We are showing the form of a top-six team and can make a real impact this season.
He said ahead of the Monday action: “We have done very well against the teams that are in and around us and played well in those games.
“Against the top teams – Southampton, Liverpool, Arsenal – we have been really close without toppling any of them.
“So that is the next step and we have a great opportunity because we also have Man United as well as City at home and Chelsea and Liverpool away. One of those games I would like to think we can win.
“We are showing the form of a top-six team and can make a real impact this season. With the form we’re in, we must go for a top-10 finish at least.
“I expect us to push Manchester City and if we get ourselves in front and get to 15 minutes to go still leading, this team is one of the few that could see the game out.”
Palace are still without the suspended Mile Jedinak ban, while Marouane Chamakh, Fraizer Campbell and Jordon Mutch are all sidelined by injury.
The Eagles can be backed at 5.50 to win the game on Monday evening and are 17.00 to triumph by a 1-0 scoreline, with Palace available at 6.00 to keep a clean sheet.
