Man City boss Manual Pellegrini says Jose Mourinho ‘wants to take credit for everything’ when his Chelsea side are winning.
There has been simmering tension between the rival bosses ever since Mourinho succeeded Pellegrini as Real Madrid manager in 2010.
Their war of words has continued since Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge and the Blues boss poked fun at Pellegrini in his end-of-season awards dinner speech after Chelsea had taken the title from Man City last season.
Although Pellegrini insists he has no interest in analysing Mourinho “as a person” he chose to share his feelings on how the Portuguese reacted to Chelsea’s title win last season.
When he wins, Mourinho wants to take credit for everything.
“When he wins, Mourinho wants to take credit for everything,” Pellegrini told Chile’s El Mercurio newspaper. “I never do that. When I won the Premier League, I didn’t say a word.
“I don’t have any problem with Mourinho. He’s not my enemy and there isn’t any conflict – but I differ from him on all fronts. I have no interest in analysing him as a person.”
Man City are 3.75 to win back the Premier League title from Chelsea next season, with the Blues currently 2.50 to retain their crown.
Pellegrini’s statement could be the beginning of a long summer for the two clubs, with Chelsea now rumoured to be interested in Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling.
Manchester City have already had two bids for the England international knocked back by the Anfield club.
Liverpool believe the 20-year-old should command a fee of at least £50m but City have to date offered just £40m for the winger who seems destined to leave Anfield this summer.
