Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino insists there is still a future at the club for Emmanuel Adebayor, Younes Kaboul and Etienne Capoue.
All three players have been out of favour at White Hart Lane of late, with Adebayor’s last Premier League start coming more than four months ago.
The 30-year-old Togo international had been expected to move to West Ham United in the winter transfer window but a proposed deadline day switch to Upton Park fell through at the last minute.
We need to go step by step. It is important to be solid and consistent in our performances.
Kaboul and Capoue have also slipped out of the first-team picture recently, as Spurs step up their push for a top-four finish in the Premier League following their recent exit from the Europa League and defeat to Chelsea in the Capital One Cup final.
Former Southampton boss Pochettino said: “Always for every game it is my decision, my choice. I think that they understand. All of our squad is fully-fit and we need to pick 11 players. We have 25 players but we only need 18.
“The schedule has not been good for us but it was impossible to change. Maybe seven or eight teams are fighting for that top four.
“But my idea has not changed from the beginning. We need to go step by step. It is important to be solid and consistent in our performances.”
Spurs are 8.00 to clinch a top-four spot this season, while Arsenal can be backed at 1.16, Southampton at 8.50, Manchester United at 1.72 and Liverpool at 2.10.
