Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that there could be a clear-out at Tottenham this summer with up to seven players tipped to leave White Hart Lane.
Former Southampton boss Pochettino has enjoyed a successful first season with Spurs, guiding the club to the Capital One Cup final, the last-32 of the Europa League and to seventh spot in the Premier League.
However, the Argentinian is keen to continue improving his squad and wants to add quality to his options in readiness for the start of the 2015/16 campaign in August.
Aaron Lennon, Vlad Chiriches, Younes Kaboul, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor are all being linked with moves away from Spurs this summer, although Pochettino insists: “I am always open. It is never too late.
“The players need to feel they always have the opportunity to show us that they can stay here. But we are starting to work on strengthening the team.
“My idea is to improve every season. That is what we are working very hard to identify where we can do that, to make our squad better for next year.”
Austrian central defender Kevin Wimmer, who is currently with Cologne, is expected to move to Spurs in the summer, while Heerenveen striker Mark Uth is also believed to be on the club’s radar.
Meanwhile, Soldado is expected to miss Saturday’s Premier League clash against Leicester City, 1.22 to be relegated this season.
The former Valencia striker is struggling with the knee problem that made him unavailable for last weekend’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester United, 1.80 to finish in the top four of the Premier League.
