Our traders have slashed the odds from 2/1 to 13/8 for QPR’s prolific goal-scorer, Charlie Austin, swapping Loftus Road for Stamford Bridge and signing for the Premier League champions.
Football Trader for Betfair, Michael Bowers, commented: “We’ve seen a huge influx of activity on this market in recent days with Chelsea being cut from 8/1 to 2/1. Today has seen another wave of bets and we’ve slashed the odds further to 13/8. West Ham also saw support and were at one stage as short as 2/1 to sign the centre-forward.”
“QPR fans will be devastated should their beloved Charlie leave for bitter rivals Chelsea, but it seems the 25-year-old has weighed up his options and will be moving to the bright lights of European football and Premier League titles, potentially sacrificing the opportunity for regular first team football.”
Austin was one of the few bright spots for Rangers last season, scoring 18 goals in the league including a hat-trick against West Brom, and eventually being called up to Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the games against Republic of Ireland and Slovenia, although he didn’t appear in either match.
Charlie Austin to sign for before 2nd September 2015:
Chelsea 13/8
Newcastle 4/1
West Ham 9/2
Southampton 5/1
Liverpool 12/1
