Newcastle are the team on everyone’s lips right now, but for all the wrong reasons after they suffered their eighth consecutive league defeat at the hands of a fast improving Leicester side early this afternoon.
Matched at a high of [480.0] in the Relegation market, John Carver’s strugglers are now available to back at just [6.0] to go down after suffering a 3-0 defeat at the King Power Stadium.
Two goals from Leonardo Ulloa – his first coming inside 45 seconds – and a rare Wes Morgan strike sealed the points for the Foxes, while two second half dismissals completed an utterly miserable day for the Magpies.
Nigel Pearson‘s men were matched at a high of [2.16] for the victory while the 3-0 Correct Score was backed at [22.0].
The defeat for Newcastle sees them drop to 15th in the table, just a few places and two points ahead of the relegation zone which has the final place currently occupied by the Magpies’ fierce north east rivals Sunderland.
However the Black Cats gave themselves a fighting chance of beating the drop – just like they did last season – by beating Southampton 2-1 at the Stadium of Light thanks to two converted penalties from Jordi Gomez.
A home win was backed at [4.7] with the 2-1 Correct Score hitting a high of [18.5].
Aston Villa‘s fine form under Tim Sherwood continued with a 3-2 victory – matched at [46.0] – over in-form Everton at Villa Park, Christian Benteke continuing his excellent recent form with two further goals.
But elsewhere amongst the relegation candidates both Burnley and QPR lost at West Ham and Liverpool respectively, defeats that virtually guarantee that both clubs will be playing Championship football next season.
With one final relegation place to be decided just two points separate five clubs with three games to play (Hull and Sunderland have four). Sunderland are considered the most likely to go down, trading at [1.87], with Newcastle, [6.0], Leicester, [6.6], and Hull, [7.0], coming next in the market. Aston Villa can be backed at [16.0].
