West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has a major problem in attack ahead of the West Midlands derby showdown with Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Both leading scorer Saido Berahino (foot) and Brown Ideye (knee) had to be replaced during the 1-0 win over Southampton at the weekend, while Victor Anichebe is still struggling with a groin problem.
We haven’t created enough chances for the strikers.
That could leave Stephane Sessegnon as the main attacking option left at Pulis’ disposal, as the Baggies aim to extend their unbeaten Premier League run to five games.
“We’re still not sure about Brown or Saido,” Pulis admitted. “It will be a late call before the game on those two – before we make a decision on either of them.
“I don’t think Victor will be fit either, so we’ve got one or two issues there. The fact is we want them fit.”
Meanwhile, Villa boss Tim Sherwood has called on his side to create more chances for the likes of Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor, with the Villans having scored a mere 13 goals in 27 league games this season.
He told the club’s official website: “We haven’t created enough chances for the strikers. They feed off service and I don’t think they’ve been getting enough.
“If you give it to them and then they don’t score, then you have every right to point the finger. At the moment, I don’t think we have any right to. They haven’t been getting the service.”
Sherwood is also sweating on a major injury call, with key defender Ron Vlaar a major doubt due to a calf problem, having just served a one-match suspension.
Villa can be backed at 3.10 to secure a draw on Tuesday evening and are 2.62 to keep a clean sheet, with Benteke available at 3.20 to score at any time.
