QPR boss Chris Ramsey is confident that transfer speculation will not affect striker Charlie Austin when the Hoops head to Anfield to take on Liverpool on Saturday.
The Reds are one of the club who have been linked with a summer move for Austin, who has netted 17 Premier League goals so far this season, despite Rangers being down in the bottom three and facing a battle to avoid relegation.
He is a QPR player and he knows he has a duty to try his best to keep us in the division.
However, Ramsey has no qualms about his star frontman, with Austin 8.00 to score the first goal of the game on Merseyside, 3.50 to score the first Rangers goal and 3.00 to score at any time.
He told reporters: “We haven’t really spoken about him leaving the club at all. As far as Charlie is concerned and we are concerned, he is a QPR player and he knows he has a duty to try his best to keep us in the division.”
Meanwhile, Ramsey hopes to be able to utilise veteran forward Bobby Zamora is some capacity on Saturday, with the former England international battling to play on through a number of nagging injuries.
He added: “He’s had a long-term injury which he’s been playing with. I’m very pleased he’s got himself out there to try to help us.”
“Bobby has a bad hip but he’s got a bad few things. He’s a man who has taken a lot of bumps and bruises, because he’s the one who is always in the battle.
“It can be anything from ankle to hip to shoulder, but whatever happens, I’m sure he’ll be involved again before the end of the season.”
