Aston Villa new boy Micah Richards says he has challenged forward Gabby Agbonlahor to score more goals next season.
Agbonlahor managed just six goals last season and four in the 2013-14 campaign, but Richards thinks he should be finding the back of the net more often.
“Gabby and I played together for quite a few years with the [England] U21s and even further back in the age groups,” he told the Birmingham Mail.
“He is a real quality player. I have already challenged him to score more goals – and I am confident he will.
“With his pace and strength, he can terrorise defences.
“As a defender, pace is the worst thing to play against. He can definitely score more goals with that major asset to his game.
“I will be looking to get him going. I will be pushing him.”
Villa open the campaign with a trip to newly-promoted Bournemouth and they are 3.50 to take all three points.
Tim Sherwood’s side are 34.00 to secure a top six finish or 4.50 to be relegated.
