Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany may miss the remainder of the Premier League season, as he continues to be troubled by a thigh muscle problem.

The 29-year-old Belgium international defender has been troubled by the problem for some time and will definitely miss the visit from West Ham United on Sunday and may yet be ruled out of the remainder of the campaign.

We don’t know if he will be fit before the end of the season.

Manuel Pellegrini

Citizens manager Manuel Pellegrini said ahead of the clash with the Hammers, which hsi side are 1.25 to win: “Vincent is injured. He has a muscle injury – we don’t know how many weeks.

“We don’t know if he will be fit before the end of the season.”

Meanwhile, Pellegrini, who also confirmed that Stevan Jovetic, Wilfried Bony, Gael Clichy and James Milner will all miss the game on Sunday, has called for a strong end to the season, following a recent slump in form.

The Citizens have lost four of their last six league games and are all but out of the title race as they trail leaders Chelsea by 12 points, with the Londoners also having a game in hand.

However, amid talk of his future at the club being in doubt, Pellegrini has urged his players to engineer a turnaround in fortunes and make sure of a top-four finish and Champions League football next season.

The Chilean added on his club’s official website: “My pressure is always the same, to win every game for this team to play in the way I like the team to play.

“Last year there was more pressure when we were fighting for the title. The pressure is for us to recover our normal performance and that’s not the same as fighting for the title.

“It’s important to be in the Champions League and every time you finish a season you must analyse whether you’re winning or losing. If we lost the last six games we won’t have the same conclusions as if we win the next six.”

City are available at 1.10 to finish in the top four this season, with Liverpool 6.00 and Southampton 21.00.
