Aston Villa are reportedly edging closer to deals for three new players – including former Leicester City midfielder Esteban Cambiasso.
The 34-year-old joined the Foxes last season after his release by Inter Milan and was a key fixture in the first-team, making over 30 Premier League appearances and he was voted the player of the year by the club.
The former Argentina international opted against signing a new deal at City and now, according to the Sun, Villa boss Tim Sherwood is keen on brining in the experience midfielder.
The Villans are still reeling from the loss of Fabian Delph to Manchester City for just £8million but the arrival of Cambiasso could add a real strength to the team.
Sherwood is also, according to the Sun, on the verge of completing a deal for Blackburn Rovers striker Rudy Gestede and an offer around the £6million is being mooted.
The Benin international bagged 20 goals in 39 Championship appearances last season and is seen as a good replacement for the recently departed Christian Benteke, who joined Liverpool for £32.5million.
It could be a busy few days for the Villans with Sky Sports also reporting that the club have had a £12million bid accepted by Lorient for Ghana international Jordan Ayew.
The 23-year-old notched 12 strikes in 31 Ligue 1 appearances last term and the versatility of the striker, who can also play out wide, could provide a welcome asset to the squad.
Moving on and the Daily Mirror are reporting that Tottenham are weighing up a move for West Brom forward Saido Berahino, with the London-based club willing to spend £15million.
The latter was a key member for the Baggies last season and Spurs are hoping to reunite the forward with Harry Kane, with the duo forming a successful partnership for England’s U-21 side.
Tony Pulis is desperate to hold onto the striker for the new season but the former Crystal Palace boss may be forced to part with Berahino if a big-money offer comes in this summer.
Finally, another story from Sky Sports and former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby is set to have a medical at West Brom as he prepares to join on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old endured an injury-ravaged time with the Gunners but Baggies boss Pulis has offered a lifeline to the ex-France international.
There are yet to be any details regarding the wages that may be offered to the midfielder but it is expected that Diaby will be earning considerably less than when he was at the Emirates.
