Burnley boss Sean Dyche has confirmed that right back Kieran Trippier is on the verge of sealing a £3.5million switch to Tottenham.
The 24-year-old was one of the Clarets’ most consistent performers last season, although Burnley eventually suffered relegation to the Championship, being an ever-present for Dyche’s side, who are 5.50 to be promoted in the 2015/16 season.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has won the race to land Tripper, who was also wanted by Aston Villa, Stoke City, Liverpool and Manchester United, 6.00 to win the 2015/16 Premier League title outright.
Trippier has a release clause in his contract, after signing a new three-year deal last summer after Burnley had secured promotion from the Championship.
The defender moved to Turf Moor from Manchester City on a permanent arrangement in January 2012 after spending the first half of the 2011/12 season on loan with Burnley.
A post on Burnley’s official Twitter account read: “Sean Dyche confirms reports that @trippier2’s proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur is an “active deal”.”
Dyche is now expected to step up his pursuit of Aston in Villa right-back Matt Lowton, while he has also been linked with Doncaster Rovers’ highly-rated Reece Wabara.
Burnley have already lost Danny Ings this summer as the striker has agreed to join Liverpool, who are 3.75 to finish in the top four of the Premier League in the 2015/16 season.
