Champions League qualification is more important than an FA Cup title for Louis van Gaal.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal feels a top four finish is more important than winning the FA Cup this season.

United take on Arsenal in the quarter finals on Monday night but Van Gaal says securing Champions League football at Old Trafford next season is his priority.

United are currently fourth but the battle for a top four spot is finely poised as just five points separate Arsenal in third and Southampton in seventh.

“When you win the FA Cup you are not in the Champions League, but you have won a title [cup],” he told reporters.

“For the players, that’s fantastic, and for the manager that’s fantastic, but our goal is to reach, in our first year together, a place in the Champions League.

“The Champions League is the highest level. To finish in the first four is a fantastic result I think, and for Manchester United more.”

United are 2.50 to beat Arsenal on Monday and 1.72 to secure a top four finish this season.
