Theo Walcott has indicated that he is willing to sign a contract extension at Arsenal soon.
The 26-year-old, who has been linked with moves to Liverpool and Manchester City recently, is in the final year of his Gunners contract.
Walcott has scored 50 goals in 208 Premier League appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side since joining the club from Southampton in January 2006, but has only featured in 27 games in the last two seasons because of a knee ligament injury.
I enjoy playing for this club so I am just letting them crack on with things and I’ll continue playing football.
He scored Arsenal’s opening goal in the 4-0 FA Cup final victory over Aston Villa in May and has confirmed that talks with the club about a new contract are ongoing.
Walcott said: “My agent has talked to the club. I enjoy playing for this club so I am just letting them crack on with things and I’ll continue playing football.
“If it happens it happens. We’ll just play the waiting game and see what happens but I’m sure it won’t be long. It’s not in my thought process at all. You don’t want to dwell on it, you want to play well and if it happens it happens.
“It’s my first pre-season for two years now so I want to work hard and get fit. It’s a really exciting year for myself personally and I think this team can go very far.”
Arsenal are 6.50 to secure between 75 and 77 points in the 2015/16 season and 5.50 to win the Premier League title outright.
