Manager Arsene Wenger says his Arsenal side will focus only on trying to win their next game and not on a possible late-season Premier League title charge.
With a crunch showdown with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday next on the agenda, Wenger has played down talk of his team having a say in the destination of the title, focusing instead on continuing a fine run of form in recent weeks.
He told reporters: “We have the aspiration to win the next game. That’s good enough and after that the next one.
“Mathematically, it doesn’t only depend on us. If everything goes for us you never know, but we can only master our own performances, so let us focus on that.”

The Gunners have won nine of their last ten games in the Premier League, with their lone setback in that run a 2-1 derby loss at Tottenham in early February.
Arsenal are 1.83 to win the game at lunchtime on Saturday and are 10.00 to do so by a 2-0 scoreline.
Meanwhile, Wenger has also voiced his support for forward Danny Welbeck, who is expected to recover from a knee injury sustained on international duty with England to feature against the Reds.
The former Manchester United striker has found the net just twice in his last 16 appearances for the Gunners, but Wenger is more than happy with his overall contribution to the side.
The Frenchman added: “He doesn’t just score goals, but contributes to team work too, he’s a team player.
“Technically he has improved a lot when you look at him now. Technically he is much more mature and composed in front of goal. The quality of his runs are also better.”
Welbeck can be backed at 3.75 to score the first Arsenal goal on Saturday and is 2.40 to score at any time.
