Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants his side to strengthen their grip on second spot with a win over Chelsea on Sunday.

The Gunners have won eight successive Premier League games ahead of the visit of the pacesetters and Wenger has urged his side to maintain their focus in the final six games.

Defeat to Chelsea could see them drop as low as fourth depending on results elsewhere, while a win would see them close the gap on Jose Mourinho’s side to seven points.

Wenger has played down any talk of a late title charge but he is keen for Arsenal to put as much pressure on Chelsea as possible.

“We want to continue to win and strengthen our position in second place because that’s far from being done,” said Wenger.

“We have an opportunity to get closer to Chelsea and we want to take it.

“We dropped points at the start of the season, but since January we have been top of the [form] table.

“We have an opportunity to show that improvement is consistent.”

Arsenal are 2.40 to beat Chelsea on Sunday and 11.00 to win 2-0, while they are 1.004 to finish in the top four.
